"25 years later. Municipal Art Collection 1995-2020" was a retrospective exhibition of the last twenty-five years of art acquisitions in which the Matosinhos City Council has invested to enrich its public art collection, making it one of the most important municipal collections.

In order to create a greater proximity with its public and also to respond to a need to adapt to the digital era, the app "Matosinhos Art" was developed from scratch. When visiting the exhibition, all visitors are invited to download the App for free, in order to learn more about the works and artists, but also to access exclusive Augmented Reality content.

During the augmented reality experience, we may observe 2D and 3D animated content that bring the works of art to life. By pointing with the mobile device to the selected paintings, it will be possible to observe, for example, one of the famous Robots by Augusto Gomes trying to untangle itself from the wires that surround it, or the chaste Saltimbancos from "Rua do Godinho", by the same artist, performing for the public.

The exhibition was on for 2 months in 3 different places: the Municipal Gallery of Matosinhos, the Atrium of Paços do Concelho and the Quinta de Santiago Museum, in Leça da Palmeira.
