A ruined building and a large yard hid the structures of a 16th-century manor house. Hidden beneath the floors of this house, a Hammam was discovered, in other words, an Islamic public bath complex, unique in Portugal for its state of conservation. An important chapter in the history of Loulé.

These are some of the funded projects we have underway
Between Mnemosine e Terpsícore - Heritage and dance for the promotion of critical thinking
The Project
The project aims to promote critical thinking skills and stimulate creativity among students aged 14 to 18, based on visits to National Palaces, with contemporary dance as a mediation tool.
It will take place in National Sintra Palace, in Portugal, and in the Wilanow Palace Museum, in Poland, and it also aims to strengthen the participation of local communities in sites hitherto visited mostly by international tourism.
Partners
This partnership involves the National Palace of Suntra; The Wilanow Palace-Museum, in Warsaw; The Monte da Lua School Grouping from Sintra; The LXXXVI Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Batalionu "Zośka", from Varsóvia; the contemporary dance association Meet Share Dance, based in Madrid; and the Portuguese company byAR, a specialist in the development of applications and solutions based on immersive augmented reality.
The project started in March 2021 and will run for two years. The funding is provided by the European Union.

LEIA - Integrated action for the leather goods sector
The project
The project envisages designing, developing and testing a new professional profile and training opportunities, based on innovative technology-based methodologies and work-based learning, combined with mobility actions for trainers and trainees, in line with the real needs of companies.
It foresees dissemination at national and European level, boosting the capacity to create a high quality workforce, promoting the entrepreneurship of new designers, new talents and the development of a new generation of highly skilled leather goods manufacturers, oriented towards high quality products to strengthen the high added value leather goods sector across Europe.
Partners
This partnership involves four vocational training entities from Portugal, Italy, Spain and Romania, in cooperation with two leather goods manufacturers from Portugal and Italy, Belcinto and Leu Locati, and a company specialist in advanced learning technologies, byAR, who decided to work towards developing innovative responses to education and vocational training.
The project started in October 2019 and ends in March 2022. Co-funded by the European Union.

HOUDINI - Immersive content for heritage with history
The project
The Houdini project aims to boost the tourism sector, providing immersive and interactive experiences, either in person or remotely, through augmented reality technology and voice interaction.
This service will be available both for users physically present and via streaming service. The aim is to design a solution that allows visitors (in person or via the Internet) to a cultural heritage site (palace, castle, etc.) to observe, in augmented reality, contextualized representations (or recreations of historical scenes) and ask about the historical past of these sites.
This information may be provided by historical characters who have permanently inhabited the site or temporarily visited it, according to current historical records. These characters should be very realistic (physiognomy, clothing, facial features, etc.).

This partnership involves byAR, Instituto Politécnico of Viana do Castelo, Voice Interaction and the Côa Parque Foundation.
The project started in March 2021 and ends in June 2023. Financed by the European Union.

Shoes (Choose) Your Life - A new educational approach to STEAM jobs
The project
SYL is focused on young between the 7th and 9th grade and aims at raising awareness for choosing an industry-based occupation.
It is intended to highlight today's modern, digital and "smart" industry and how it can attract young people within these ages within the framework of Industry 4.0.
The footwear industry is the selected sector of activity of this project, totally embracing the challenges of i4.0 and offering a wide range of STEAM (Scientific Technology Engineering Arts & Maths) occupations and opportunities for youngsters, allying talent, creativity and positive and critical attitude to a new generation high-end consumer goods manufacturing industry with high standards of employability.

This partnership involves the CTCP (Technological Center por Portuguese Shoes); schools from Portugal (Agrupamento de Escolas Oliveira Júnior), Italy (Istituto Omnicomprensivo Rosselli Rasetti) and Romania (Colegiul National Economic Gheorghe Chitu Cracovia); Think Young, a think tank for young people in Belgium; and byAR, a specialist the development of applications and solutions based on immersive augmented reality.

SHOE 5.0 - Partnership for Footwear Industry 5.0 Readiness
The project
The project main goal is to prepare the EU footwear sector with the necessary skills to embrace the challenge of the transition towards a sustainable, human-centric and resilient industry, making use of the latest technologies and addressing the implementation of and Industry 5.0.
The action is aligned with the EU Pact for Skills for the Textile, Clothing, Leather and Footwear sectors (EU TCLF Pact for Skills) to upskill/reskill workers, allying benefits not only for workers, but also for the companies and society. The project outcomes will contribute to ensure that workers acquire the needed skills to support the green and digital transition in footwear factories across Europe.
